Minimal Agar Davis is a microbiological medium for isolating and characterizing nutritional mutants of Escherichia coli.

Composition per liter:

  • Dextrose: 1.0g

  • Dipotassium Phosphate: 7.0g

  • Monopotassium Phosphate: 2.0g

  • Sodium Citrate: 0.5g

  • Magnesium Sulfate: 0.1g

  • Ammonium Sulfate: 1.0g

  • Agar: 15.0g

  • pH: 7.0 ± 0.2 (25°C)

Preparation: Dissolve 16.6g in 1L distilled or deionized water, heat and boil for 1 minute to dissolve, sterilize at 121°C for 15 minutes, and cool before use.

This agar provides a controlled environment for research with nutrient-limited E. coli strains.
