Fluid Lactose Medium, also known as Lactose Monohydrate Broth, is a dehydrated microbiological culture medium formulated for the detection of coliform bacteria and for pre-enrichment of Salmonella species in food, water, and environmental samples.

This medium contains gelatin pancreatic digest, beef extract, and lactose, providing essential nutrients and a fermentable carbohydrate source to support bacterial recovery and growth during preliminary testing stages.

⚗️ Preparation Instructions

  1. Suspend 13.0 g of dehydrated medium in 1 L of distilled or deionized water
    (volume may be adjusted proportionally as required)

  2. Warm gently with stirring until completely dissolved

  3. Sterilize at 121 °C for 15 minutes

  4. Cool rapidly after sterilization

  5. Store under appropriate conditions until use
