It provides a selective medium without L-cysteine, making it suitable for differential testing and confirmatory diagnosis of Legionella in microbiological laboratories.

Preparation and Usage
Suspend 38.0 g of the medium in 1 L distilled or deionized water.
Heat with frequent agitation until completely dissolved.
Dispense in 100 ml volumes and autoclave at 121 °C for 15 minutes.
Shake gently after sterilization and allow to cool to 50 °C.
Aseptically add 1 vial of soluble ferric pyrophosphate per 100 ml of medium and mix well.
Pour into sterile Petri dishes under aseptic conditions.
Adjust pH with sterile KOH solution if necessary.
