Baird-Parker Agar Plate (Ready-to-Use), 90 mm – Pack of 10

Baird-Parker Agar is a selective, differential culture medium widely used in food, dairy, environmental and laboratory microbiology for the detection and enumeration of Staphylococcus aureus. This ready-to-use prepared agar plate saves preparation time, reduces contamination risk and delivers consistent, batch-controlled performance.

Selective & differential design

  • Lithium chloride and potassium tellurite egg-yolk enrichment suppress background flora.
  • Staphylococcus aureus forms typical grey-black, shiny, convex colonies surrounded by a clear zone, making presumptive identification fast and easy.

Ready-to-use & reliable

  • Supplied as 90 mm prepared plates, 20–25 mL agar per plate.
  • Triple-layer vacuum packaging protects the medium and reduces condensation and dehydration.
  • Sterility and growth controls are performed: typical S. aureus growth; Escherichia coli inhibited.
  • Consistent gel strength (500–650 g/cm) and controlled pH (7.0 ± 0.2 at 25 °C).

Typical composition (per litre)

  • Tryptone 10.0 g; Beef extract 5.0 g; Yeast extract 1.0 g; Sodium pyruvate 10.0 g; Glycine 12.0 g; Lithium chloride 5.0 g; Agar 20.0 g; Distilled water 1 L; plus potassium tellurite egg-yolk enrichment (1 vial per 95 mL).

Storage & shelf life

  • Store at 2–8 °C, protected from light.
  • Shelf life: 30 days from production.

How to use

  1. Remove the plate from cold storage and allow it to equilibrate to room temperature.
  2. Transport the whole pack to the test site.
  3. Inoculate and incubate inverted at the specified temperature and time.
  4. Observe and count colonies.

Quality indicators

  • Appearance: yellow, smooth, no cracks, no bubbles, opaque.
  • Sterility & water retention: no growth after incubation at 30–35 °C for 2 days; no obvious dehydration.
  • Growth: S. aureus – typical colonies, good growth; E. coli – inhibited.

Note

  • For laboratory/professional use only. Single-use product; autoclave before disposal.
  • Do not use plates that are cracked, dry or contaminated.
  • Re-seal any unused plates and return to cold storage promptly.

Packaging

  • 90 mm × 10 plates per pack.
