Nutrient Agar (NA) is a general-purpose culture medium widely used in food, pharmaceutical, environmental and laboratory microbiology for the determination of microorganisms on equipment, work surfaces, personnel and packaging materials, as well as for the purification culture of bacteria. This ready-to-use prepared agar plate saves preparation time, reduces contamination risk and delivers consistent, batch-controlled performance.

Versatile & general-purpose

  • Suitable for microbial monitoring of equipment, workshops, personnel and packaging materials.
  • Supports good growth of a broad range of organisms, including Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger.

Ready-to-use & reliable

  • Supplied as 90 mm prepared plates, 20–25 mL agar per plate.
  • Pre-sterilized during production; triple-layer vacuum packaging helps protect the medium and reduce contamination, condensation and dehydration.
  • Consistent gel strength (500–650 g/cm²) and controlled pH (7.3 ± 0.1).
  • Good water retention: no obvious dehydration after 4 hours in flowing air.

Typical composition (per litre)

  • Peptone 10.0 g; Beef extract 3.0 g; Sodium chloride 5.0 g; Agar 15.0 g; Distilled water 1000 mL; final pH 7.3 ± 0.1 (25 °C).

Storage & shelf life

  • Store at 2–25 °C, protected from light.
  • Shelf life: 180 days from production.

How to use

  1. Remove the plate from storage and allow it to equilibrate to room temperature.
  2. Transport the whole pack to the test site.
  3. Inoculate and incubate inverted at the specified temperature and time.
  4. Observe and count colonies.

Quality indicators

  • Appearance: light yellow, smooth, no cracks, no visible impurities or bubbles.
  • pH qualified; gel strength 500–650 g/cm².
  • Sterility: no growth after 3 days at 20–25 °C or 2 days at 30–35 °C; no obvious dehydration.
  • Water retention: no obvious shrinkage after 4 hours in flowing air.
  • Growth: E. coli, P. aeruginosa, B. subtilis, S. aureus, C. albicans and A. niger – typical colony size and characteristics.

Note

  • For laboratory/professional microbiological use only. Single-use product; autoclave before disposal.
  • Do not use plates that are cracked, dry or contaminated.
  • Re-seal any unused plates and return to appropriate storage promptly.

Packaging

  • 90 mm × 10 plates per pack, triple-layer vacuum packaging.
No-pour sterile agar plates, individually sealed and lot-tested. Grow bacteria, yeast and mold in minutes — no autoclave, no contamination risk. 10-pack.
