Yeast Extract Malt Extract Broth (YM Broth) is a nutrient-rich liquid culture medium commonly used for the cultivation of Streptomyces and other actinomycetes. The combination of malt extract, yeast extract, and dextrose provides essential carbon sources, nitrogen, vitamins, and growth factors, making it suitable for both research and industrial microbiology applications.
Complete Formula (per liter):
Malt Extract: 10.0 g
Yeast Extract: 4.0 g
Dextrose (Glucose): 4.0 g
Final pH: 7.3 ± 0.2 at 25°C
Instructions for Use:
Suspend 18.0 g of the medium in 1 liter of deionized water or 30% seawater.
Heat until completely dissolved.
Dispense into containers.
Sterilize at 121°C for 15 minutes or 115°C for 30 minutes.
Allow to cool before use.
