Product Overview:
Xylose Lysine Deoxycholate Agar (XLD Agar) is a selective agar medium designed for the isolation of Salmonella species. It is widely applied in food safety testing, environmental monitoring, and microbiological laboratories requiring reliable selective agar media.


Composition (per liter):

  • Yeast Extract – 3.0 g

  • L-Lysine – 5.0 g

  • Xylose – 3.5 g

  • Lactose – 7.5 g

  • Sucrose – 7.5 g

  • Sodium Deoxycholate – 2.5 g

  • Ferric Ammonium Citrate – 0.8 g

  • Sodium Thiosulfate – 6.8 g

  • Sodium Chloride – 5.0 g

  • Phenol Red – 0.08 g

  • Agar – 13.5 g

  • pH 7.4 ± 0.2 (at 25℃)


Preparation Instructions:

  1. Suspend 55.2 g of the medium in 1 L of distilled or deionized water.

  2. Heat with stirring and boil for 1 minute until completely dissolved.

  3. Cool to 50–55℃.

  4. Pour into sterile Petri dishes and allow to solidify.
