TYCSB Fluid Medium Base (Tryptone Yeast Cystine Sucrose Bacitracin) is a nutrient-rich medium formulated for the cultivation of Streptococcus species, particularly Streptococcus mutans. Supplied in 500g bottles, it is stable at room temperature and has a shelf life of 3 years, making it suitable for microbiology laboratory applications.
Key Ingredients (per liter):
Tryptone (15.0g): Provides peptides and amino acids for bacterial growth.
Yeast Extract (5.0g): Supplies vitamins and essential nutrients.
L-Cystine HCl (0.2g): Supports growth of specific Streptococcus strains.
Sodium Sulphite (0.1g) and Sodium Chloride (0.1g): Maintain ionic balance and reduce oxidation.
Disodium Phosphate Anhydrous (0.8g) and Sodium Bicarbonate (2.0g): Buffer the medium for pH stability.
Sodium Acetate Anhydrous (12.0g) and Sucrose (200.0g): Serve as carbon sources and promote selective growth.
pH: 7.3 ± 0.2 at 25°C
Usage Instructions:
Dissolve 23.52g of TYCSB medium base in 100ml distilled or deionized water (adjust proportionally as needed). Boil until fully dissolved, then sterilize at 121°C for 15 minutes. After cooling below 55°C, aseptically add 1 vial of Mitis Bacitracin solution per 100ml and mix thoroughly. The medium is now ready for use.
