Trans-Vag Broth Base is formulated as a selective broth medium for the cultivation and isolation of Streptococcus spp..
The medium provides essential nutrients such as peptone and heart extract powder to support bacterial growth, while the selective supplementation with gentamicin and nalidixic acid effectively inhibits background flora, allowing for enhanced recovery of Streptococcus strains.

  • Peptone ……………………………. 20.0 g

  • Heart extract powder ……………….. 3.1 g

  • Dextrose (Glucose) …………………. 2.0 g

  • Sodium chloride …………………… 2.0 g

  • Disodium hydrogen phosphate ………… 0.4 g

  • Sodium carbonate …………………… 2.5 g

  • Final pH: 7.8 ± 0.1 at 25℃


📌 Instructions for Use

  1. Suspend 30.0 g of Trans-Vag Broth Base in 1 liter of distilled or deionized water.

  2. Heat to boiling until completely dissolved.

  3. Dispense into suitable containers.

  4. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121℃ for 15 minutes.

  5. Cool to below 55℃.

  6. Under aseptic conditions, add per 100 ml of broth:

    • 0.8 mg sterile gentamicin (1 ampoule solution)

    • 1.5 mg sterile nalidixic acid (1 ampoule solution)

  7. Mix well and use as required.
