
Todd-Hewitt Agar – Streptococci Culture Medium with Optional Antibiotics, 250g
Todd-Hewitt Agar provides a nutrient-rich environment for streptococci, supporting both general cultivation and selective isolation when supplemented with antibiotics. Ideal for clinical, food, and research microbiology applications.
Composition:
Dehydrated Todd-Hewitt Agar Base (per manufacturer’s formulation)
pH 7.8 ± 0.1 (at 25℃)
Preparation Instructions:
Dissolve the appropriate amount of dehydrated agar in distilled or deionized water according to desired volume.
Heat to boiling until completely dissolved.
Dispense into containers or plates.
Sterilize by autoclaving at 121℃ for 15 minutes.
Cool to 50–55℃ before adding any heat-sensitive supplements (e.g., erythromycin).
Pour into Petri dishes and allow to solidify.
Storage:
Store in a tightly sealed container at room temperature in a dry place. Shelf life: 3 years.
