Product Overview:
TMAO Medium (Trimethylamine N-Oxide Medium) is a semi-solid agar medium designed for the cultivation and detection of bacteria capable of reducing or decomposing trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO). The formulation is enriched with plant extracts and peptones, supporting bacterial growth under selective conditions. It is widely applied in microbiology laboratories for research, diagnostics, and microbial metabolic studies.

Composition (per liter):

• Plant Extract – 10.0 g

• Plant Peptone – 10.0 g

• Sodium Chloride – 5.0 g

• Trimethylamine-N-oxide – 1.0 g

• Yeast Extract – 1.0 g

• Agar – 2.0 g

• pH 7.5 ± 0.2 (25℃)

Instructions for Use:

1. Dissolve 29.0 g of powder in 1 L distilled or deionized water.

2. Heat to boiling for 1 minute until completely dissolved.

3. Dispense 4 mL into screw-cap test tubes.

4. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121℃ for 15 minutes.

5. Shake gently after sterilization and place tubes upright to solidify into a semi-solid medium.

6. Store at room temperature until use.
