Application
TBX Chromogenic Agar is specifically formulated for the selective isolation and cultivation of Escherichia coli. The medium contains chromogenic substrates that allow differentiation of E. coli from other bacteria based on colony color.
Composition (per liter)
Tryptone – 20.0 g
Bile Salts No.3 – 1.5 g
X-glucuronide (X-Gluc) – 0.075 g
Agar – 15.0 g
pH: 7.2 ± 0.2 (25℃)
Instructions for Use
Weigh 3.66 g of the powder and dissolve in 100 ml of distilled or deionized water.
Sterilize by autoclaving at 121℃ for 15 minutes.
Cool to 55℃, mix gently, and pour into plates.
Store prepared plates at 2–8℃ until use.
Typical Colony Characteristics
E. coli colonies appear green to blue-green.
Other bacterial colonies appear yellow or in other colors.
