Product Overview:
R2A Agar is a low-nutrient solid culture medium designed for the enumeration of aerobic microorganisms in pharmaceutical water systems, including purified water and other treated water samples. The formulation supports the recovery of stressed and slow-growing bacteria commonly present in low-nutrient environments. It is widely used in microbiological quality control and routine water monitoring.
Composition (per liter):
Yeast Extract – 0.5 g
Proteose Peptone – 0.5 g
Casein Hydrolysate – 0.5 g
Dextrose – 0.5 g
Soluble Starch – 0.5 g
Dipotassium Phosphate – 0.3 g
Magnesium Sulfate (Anhydrous) – 0.024 g
Sodium Pyruvate – 0.3 g
Agar – 15.0 g
pH 7.2 ± 0.2 (at 25℃)
Preparation Instructions:
Suspend 18.1 g of the medium in 1 L of distilled or deionized water.
Heat to boiling until completely dissolved.
Dispense into appropriate containers.
Sterilize at 121℃ for 15 minutes or at 115℃ for 30 minutes.
Cool to required temperature and use as needed.
