Psychrophilic Bacterium Count Agar (MPC) | Dairy Microbiology Medium
Psychrophilic Bacterium Count Agar (MPC), also known as Milk Plate Count Agar, is a dehydrated culture medium formulated for the enumeration of psychrotrophic bacteria and aerobic spore-forming bacteria in dairy products.
This medium is widely used in dairy microbiology to evaluate microbial quality in milk, milk powder, and other dairy products stored under refrigerated conditions.
Its balanced formulation supports the growth of cold-tolerant microorganisms while providing reliable and reproducible colony development.
The inclusion of skim milk powder enhances suitability for dairy-related samples.
A slight white precipitate may appear after sterilization due to milk-derived components; this does not affect the performance of the medium.
🔬 Product Applications
Enumeration of psychrophilic (psychrotrophic) bacteria in dairy products
Total aerobic spore count in milk and dairy samples
Dairy microbiology quality control
Food safety and hygiene testing
Refrigerated food microbial analysis
