Product Overview:
Potato Dextrose Agar with Chloramphenicol (PDA) is a selective medium designed for the cultivation and enumeration of yeast and mold in microbiological testing. The addition of chloramphenicol inhibits bacterial growth, ensuring reliable fungal counts in food, cosmetics, and environmental samples.

Formula (per liter):

  • Infusion from potatoes (from 300 g potatoes) – 6.0 g

  • Dextrose – 20.0 g

  • Agar – 20.0 g

  • Chloramphenicol – 0.1 g

  • pH 5.6 ± 0.2 (25℃)

Preparation Instructions:

  1. Weigh 46.1 g of the medium and suspend in 1 L of distilled or deionized water.

  2. Warm gently until completely dissolved.

  3. Dispense into containers.

  4. Sterilize at 121℃ for 20 minutes.

  5. Mix thoroughly after sterilization to prevent agar from settling.

  6. Cool to about 50℃ and pour into Petri dishes for use.
