Ogawa Medium Base is a selective medium designed for the isolation, cultivation, and drug susceptibility testing of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The medium contains disodium hydrogen phosphate, sodium glutamate, and malachite green to provide a stable nutrient environment and inhibit contaminating microorganisms. When combined with egg and glycerol, it supports optimal growth of tuberculosis-causing bacteria for laboratory and clinical applications.

Preparation Instructions
Dissolve 2.12g of Ogawa Medium Base in 100ml distilled or deionized water and boil for 30 minutes.
Add 6ml glycerol and 200ml whole egg, mix thoroughly.
For drug susceptibility testing, add 1ml of the appropriately diluted test drug per 100ml medium and mix.
Dispense into test tubes and incline in a serum coagulator.
Apply appropriate heat to solidify the medium into a slanted surface and store for use.

Ensure aseptic technique when adding egg and drugs.
The medium is intended for use with Mycobacterium tuberculosis; it contains malachite green to suppress unwanted microbial growth.
