Nine K Medium – 9K Medium for Ferrous Iron-Oxidizing Bacteria, 250g

Nine K Medium (9K Medium) is a powder microbiological culture medium for the cultivation of ferrous iron-oxidizing bacteria. Supplied in 250g bottles, the medium requires sulfuric acid addition during preparation. The powder contains visible precipitates and should be handled carefully.

Composition (per liter):

• FeSO4·7H2O 50.0g

• (NH4)2SO4 3.0g

• Calcium salt supplement 1.0g

• K2HPO4 0.5g

• MgSO4·7H2O 0.5g

• KCl 0.1g

Preparation Instructions:
Dissolve 50.0g of medium powder and 5.1g of supplement in 1L distilled or deionized water. Adjust pH to 3.0 using 10N sulfuric acid. Sterilize at 121°C for 15 minutes and cool before use.
