Nicotinic Acid Assay Medium is a specialized microbiological medium designed for the quantitative determination of Niacin (Vitamin B3). Its vitamin-controlled composition ensures high sensitivity and reproducibility in vitamin assay applications for microbiology and biochemistry laboratories.

Complete Formula (per liter):

  • Casein Acid Hydrolysate (Vitamin Assay Grade): 12.0 g

  • Glucose: 40.0 g

  • L-Cystine: 0.4 g

  • Sodium Acetate: 20.0 g

  • DL-Tryptophan: 0.2 g

  • Adenine Sulfate: 20 mg

  • Guanine Hydrochloride: 20 mg

  • Uracil: 20 mg

  • Thiamine Hydrochloride: 200 µg

  • Riboflavin: 400 µg

  • Biotin: 0.8 µg

  • Calcium Pantothenate: 200 µg

  • Pyridoxine Hydrochloride: 400 µg

  • p-Aminobenzoic Acid: 100 µg

  • K2HPO4: 1.0 g

  • KH2PO4: 1.0 g

  • MgSO4: 0.4 g

  • NaCl: 20 mg

  • FeSO4: 20 mg

  • MnSO4: 20 mg

  • Final pH: 6.7 ± 0.2 at 25°C

Instructions for Use:

  1. Dissolve 7.51 g of medium in 100 ml of distilled or deionized water.

  2. Heat to boiling until completely dissolved.

  3. Dispense 5 ml per tube.

  4. Follow the national standard assay procedure for niacin determination.

  5. Note: This product is hygroscopic (easily absorbs moisture); store tightly sealed.
