Product Overview:
NGKG Agar Base is a selective medium designed for the detection of Bacillus cereus. When supplemented with sterile 50% egg yolk suspension and polymyxin B solution, it supports the growth of Bacillus cereus while inhibiting non-target microorganisms. The medium is widely used in microbiology laboratories for food safety testing, quality control, and research applications.

Composition (per liter):

• Peptone – 1.0 g

• Yeast Extract – 0.5 g

• Sodium Chloride – 4.0 g

• Glycine – 3.0 g

• Phenol Red – 0.025 g

• Agar – 18.0 g

• pH 6.8 ± 0.2 (25℃)

Instructions for Use:

1. Dissolve 26.5 g of powder in 1 L of distilled or deionized water.

2. Heat to boiling for at least 1 minute until completely dissolved.

3. Dispense and sterilize by autoclaving at 121℃ for 15 minutes.

4. Cool to approximately 50℃.

5. Under aseptic conditions, for each 200 mL of medium, add:

   • 2 vials of 50% sterile egg yolk suspension

   • 1 vial of polymyxin B solution

6. Mix gently, pour into sterile Petri dishes, allow to solidify, and store for use.
