Modified Oxford Medium Base (MOX) – Selective Listeria Culture Medium, 250g

Modified Oxford Medium Base (MOX) provides a reliable medium for selective isolation and cultivation of Listeria species in laboratory settings.

Composition (per liter):

• Columbia Blood Agar Base – 42.5g

• Ammonium ferric citrate – 0.5g

• Esculin – 1.0g

• Lithium chloride – 15.0g

• pH 7.2 ± 0.2 (25℃)

Preparation Instructions:

1. Dissolve 59.0g of the medium in 1L distilled or deionized water.

2. Stir and boil for at least 1 minute until agar is fully dissolved.

3. Sterilize at 121℃ for 15 minutes.

4. Shake gently after sterilization to prevent agar sedimentation.

5. Cool to 50–55℃, add 2mg Polymyxin E solution (1 vial) and 4mg Lysozyme/Cefotaxime solution (2 vials) per 200ml medium, mix, pour plates, and allow to solidify.

Storage: Store at room temperature, shelf life up to 3 years.
