Muller Kauffmann Tetrathionate Novobiocin (MKTTn) Broth Base is a selective enrichment medium designed for the isolation of Salmonella species from food, clinical, and environmental samples. The formulation includes tetrathionate and bile salts for selective inhibition of competing flora, while novobiocin enhances selectivity against coliforms and Proteus species.

For full selectivity, the medium requires supplementation with iodine solution and novobiocin solution before use.
