Product Overview:
MYP Agar Base (Mannitol-Egg-Yolk-Polymyxin Agar) is a selective medium designed for the enumeration and isolation of Bacillus cereus. This medium, formulated according to MOSSEL standards, contains mannitol, peptones, phenol red, and sodium chloride. When supplemented with sterile egg yolk suspension and polymyxin B solution, it effectively suppresses non-target bacteria while promoting the growth of Bacillus cereus, producing characteristic colonies for easy identification.

Composition (per liter):

• Peptone – 10.0 g

• Beef Extract – 1.0 g

• D-Mannitol – 10.0 g

• Sodium Chloride – 10.0 g

• Phenol Red – 0.025 g

• Agar – 15.0 g

• pH 7.2 ± 0.1 (25℃)

Instructions for Use:

1. Dissolve 46.0 g of powder in 1 L of distilled or deionized water.

2. Heat to boiling until completely dissolved.

3. Dispense 100 mL per bottle and sterilize by autoclaving at 121℃ for 15 minutes.

4. After sterilization, shake gently to prevent agar from settling at the bottom.

5. Cool to 50℃.

6. For each bottle, aseptically add:

   • 1 vial of 50% sterile egg yolk suspension

   • 1 vial of polymyxin B solution

7. Mix thoroughly, pour into sterile Petri dishes, allow to solidify, and store for use.
