Magnetic Spirillum Growth Medium, Revised (MSGM, Revised)
Magnetic Spirillum Growth Medium, Revised (MSGM, Revised) is a specialized medium formulated for the cultivation of magnetotactic bacteria, including those containing magnetosomes. The medium provides essential minerals, vitamins, and organic acids to support selective bacterial growth.

Formula (per liter):
Agar – 1.3 g
KH2PO4 – 0.68 g
Tartaric acid – 0.37 g
Succinic acid – 0.37 g
Sodium salts – 0.12 g
Sodium acetate – 0.05 g
Ascorbic acid – 0.035 g
Wolfe’s vitamin solution – 10.0 ml
Wolfe’s mineral solution – 5.0 ml
Ferric quinate solution – 2.0 ml
Resazurin (0.1% solution) – 0.45 ml
Final pH: 6.75 ± 0.2 (25℃)
Preparation Instructions:
Dissolve 3.0 g of the medium in 1 liter of distilled or deionized water.
Heat to boiling to fully dissolve.
Dispense into suitable containers.
Sterilize by autoclaving at 121℃ for 15 minutes.
Mix well after sterilization and store until use.
