Product Overview:
MacConkey Agar is a selective solid culture medium formulated with bile salts and crystal violet for the isolation of enteric bacteria. The medium contains lactose as the carbohydrate source and is widely used in routine microbiological analysis for selective cultivation of intestinal bacteria in laboratory testing environments.
Composition (per liter):
Pancreatic Digest of Gelatin – 17.0 g
Peptones (meat and casein) – 3.0 g
Lactose Monohydrate – 10.0 g
Sodium Chloride – 5.0 g
Bile Salts – 1.5 g
Neutral Red – 0.03 g
Crystal Violet – 0.001 g
Agar – 13.5 g
pH 7.1 ± 0.2 (at 25℃)
Preparation Instructions:
Suspend 50.0 g of the medium in 1 L of distilled or deionized water (adjust proportionally if required).
Heat and boil for 1 minute with stirring until completely dissolved.
Sterilize at 121℃ for 15 minutes.
Cool to approximately 55℃.
Pour into sterile Petri dishes and allow to solidify before use.
