M2 Medium – Agar-Based Medium for Isolation and Cultivation of Actinomycetes, 250g

M2 Medium is a specialized culture medium formulated for the isolation and cultivation of Actinomycetes. With chitin and sodium pyruvate as carbon sources, and supplemented with essential minerals and agar, it provides a selective environment for the growth of actinomycete strains in microbiological and research laboratories.

Complete Formula (per liter):

• Chitin: 1.0 g

• Sodium Pyruvate: 1.25 g

• Magnesium Sulfate Heptahydrate (MgSO₄·7H₂O): 0.5 g

• Dipotassium Phosphate (K₂HPO₄): 0.7 g

• Ferrous Sulfate Heptahydrate (FeSO₄·7H₂O): 0.01 g

• Sodium Chloride (NaCl): 10.0 g

• Agar: 12.0 g

• Final pH: 7.2 ± 0.2 at 25°C

Instructions for Use:

1. Dissolve 25.5 g of the medium in 1 liter of distilled or deionized water.

2. Heat to boiling for at least 1 minute until fully dissolved.

3. Dispense into appropriate containers.

4. Sterilize at 121°C for 15 minutes.

5. Cool and store until ready for use.
