Application

Listeria Chromogenic Medium is formulated for the rapid detection and differentiation of Listeria species in food, water, and environmental samples. Chromogenic substrates and selective agents allow easy visual identification while suppressing unwanted bacteria.

Composition (per liter)

  • Nutrients – 56.0 g

  • Chromogenic indicator – 0.1 g

  • Agar – 15.0 g

pH: 7.0 ± 0.2 (25℃)

Typical Colony Characteristics (Incubation 37℃, 24–48h)

  • Listeria monocytogenes: blue-green colonies with precipitate halo

  • Listeria innocua: blue-green colonies without halo

  • Enterococcus faecalis and Salmonella are inhibited

Instructions for Use

  1. Weigh 14.2 g of the powder and dissolve in 190 ml of distilled or deionized water.

  2. Heat to boiling until fully dissolved.

  3. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121℃ for 15 minutes.

  4. Cool the medium to 50℃.

  5. Prepare the supplementary reagent: open one vial, add 10 ml sterile water, and mix thoroughly.

  6. Add the prepared reagent to the cooled medium and mix gently.

  7. Pour into plates, allow to solidify, and use as needed.
