Product Overview:

Lecithin Tween 80 Nutrient Agar is specifically designed for the total colony count of microorganisms in cosmetics and other personal care products. It is formulated with essential nutrients like peptone, beef extract, and sodium chloride, and is enriched with lecithin to provide an optimal environment for microbial growth. This medium is used for microbiological testing of cosmetics to ensure product safety and quality.

Composition:

Per liter of medium:

  • Peptone: 20.0g

  • Beef Extract: 3.0g

  • Sodium Chloride (NaCl): 5.0g

  • Lecithin: 1.0g

  • Agar: 15.0g

pH: 7.1-7.4 (at 25°C)

Application:

  1. Microbial enumeration in cosmetics: This medium is used to test for the total colony count of bacteria and fungi in cosmetic products like creams, lotions, shampoos, and soaps.

  2. Microbiological testing in cosmetics manufacturing: Ensures the safety and quality of personal care products before they are released to the market.

  3. General purpose microbiological testing: Can be used for the isolation and cultivation of a broad range of microorganisms.

Instructions for Use:

  1. Weigh 44.0g of the medium.

  2. Dissolve in 1L of distilled or deionized water.

  3. Add 7g of Tween 80 per liter of the prepared medium.

  4. If preparing TTC Lecithin-Tween 80 Nutrient Agar, add 1 vial of 0.5% TTC solution per 100mL of the base medium.

  5. Boil the mixture to completely dissolve, and then dispense into appropriate containers.

  6. Sterilization: Autoclave at 121°C for 20 minutes. After sterilization, shake well to prevent agar from settling at the bottom of the container.
