
Lactose Monohydrate Sulphite Medium – Selective Medium for Coliform Isolation, 250g
Lactose Monohydrate Sulphite Medium is a selective medium used for coliform bacteria isolation. Supplied in 250g bottles, it is stable at room temperature with a shelf life of 3 years, suitable for microbiology laboratories.
Composition (per liter):
Pancreatic Digest of Casein: 15.0g
Yeast Extract: 2.5g
Sodium Chloride: 2.5g
Lactose: 10.0g
L-Cysteine Hydrochloride: 0.3g
pH: 7.1 ± 0.2 (25°C)
Usage Instructions:
Dissolve 30.3g of medium in 1L of distilled or deionized water. Heat to boiling until completely dissolved. Dispense into tubes with inverted small tubes (8ml per tube). Sterilize at 121°C for 15 minutes or 115°C for 30 minutes. If not used on the same day, boil for 1 minute before use to reduce oxygen. Store at 3°C ± 2°C and use within 4 weeks. Just before use, add 0.5ml of sterile Sodium Metabisulfite solution (6mg) and 0.5ml of sterile Ferric Ammonium Citrate solution (5mg) per tube; prepare fresh daily.
