
KF Streptococcus Agar – Selective Medium for Enterococci and Streptococci Enumeration (76.4g/L)
KF Streptococcus Agar is a selective medium designed for the isolation, detection, and enumeration of enterococci and streptococci using the membrane filtration method. It is widely applied in water quality testing, food microbiology, and clinical laboratories.
Composition (per liter):
Peptone – 10.0 g
Maltose – 20.0 g
Lactose – 1.0 g
Yeast Extract – 10.0 g
Sodium Chloride – 5.0 g
Inhibitor – 0.4 g
Sodium Glycerophosphate – 10.0 g
Bromocresol Purple – 0.015 g
Agar – 20.0 g
Final pH: 7.2 ± 0.2 (at 25℃)
Preparation Instructions:
Suspend 76.4 g of dehydrated medium in 1 liter of distilled or deionized water (adjust proportionally if preparing different volumes).
Heat to boiling for 1 minute until completely dissolved.
Continue heating for an additional 5 minutes.
Cool to about 50℃.
Aseptically add 1 vial TTC solution (0.01 g/100 ml medium) and mix thoroughly.
Pour into sterile Petri dishes and allow to solidify.
⚠ Important: Do not autoclave this medium.
Storage:
Store in a tightly sealed container in a cool, dry place. Shelf life: 3 years.
