Product Overview:
Karmali’s Campylobacter Agar Medium is a selective culture medium formulated for the isolation and cultivation of Campylobacter species. The medium contains activated charcoal and haemin to neutralize toxic compounds and provide essential nutrients, while the Columbia Agar Base offers a balanced peptone and nutrient composition to support bacterial growth. It is widely used in clinical microbiology, food safety testing, and research laboratories.

Composition (per liter):

  • Activated Charcoal – 4.0 g

  • Haemin (Chlorinated Hemin) – 0.032 g

  • Columbia Agar Base – 39.0 g

Columbia Agar Base Formula (per liter):

  • Special Peptone – 23.0 g

  • Starch – 1.0 g

  • Sodium Chloride – 5.0 g

  • Agar – 10.0 g

  • pH 7.4 ± 0.2 (25℃)

Instructions for Use:

  1. Dissolve 43.0 g of powder in 1 L of distilled or deionized water.

  2. Heat to boiling for at least 1 minute until completely dissolved.

  3. Dispense into suitable containers and sterilize by autoclaving at 121℃ for 15 minutes.

  4. Cool to 50–55℃.

  5. Under aseptic conditions, add 1 vial of Karmali’s Campylobacter Supplement per 100 mL medium.

  6. Mix well, pour into sterile Petri dishes, allow to solidify, and store for use.
