Gardnerella Vaginalis Selective Agar Base

Gardnerella Vaginalis Selective Agar Base is used for the selective isolation and cultivation of Gardnerella vaginalis. Supplements including streptomycin sulfate, nalidixic acid solution, amphotericin B solution, and 10% sterile defibrinated human, rabbit, or horse blood are required.

Preparation Instructions

1. Dissolve 22.0 g of the base in 450 mL distilled or deionized water.

2. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121℃ for 15 minutes.

3. Cool to 45–50℃.

4. Under sterile conditions, add:

   • 1 vial Streptomycin Sulfate

   • 3 vials Nalidixic Acid Solution

   • 1 vial Amphotericin B Solution

5. Mix well, then add 50 mL of pre-warmed (40℃) sterile defibrinated human, rabbit, or horse blood.

6. Gently mix and pour plates.
