Fluid Selenite-Cystine Medium (SC Medium) is a selective enrichment liquid medium designed for the enhanced recovery and enrichment of Salmonella species from food, water, pharmaceutical, and clinical-related samples.

Sodium selenite inhibits competing intestinal flora, while L-cystine reduces the toxic effect of selenite, improving the survival and growth of Salmonella. Lactose and phosphate buffer help maintain suitable osmotic balance and pH during incubation.

For laboratory research and quality control use only. Not intended for clinical diagnostic or therapeutic use.

🔬 Intended Use

  • Selective enrichment of Salmonella spp.

  • Food microbiology testing

  • Water quality analysis

  • Pharmaceutical and environmental microbiology

  • Pre-enrichment prior to plating on selective agar media
