Esculin Iron Agar (EIA) – Medium for Enterococcus Cultivation and Identification, 100g
Esculin Iron Agar (EIA) is a selective medium designed for the cultivation and identification of Enterococcus species. Supplied in 100g bottles, it is stable at room temperature or under refrigeration and has a shelf life of 3 years, making it suitable for routine microbiology laboratory use.
Key Ingredients (per liter):
Esculin (1.0g): Aids in the differential identification of Enterococcus species.
Ferric Ammonium Citrate (0.5g): Reacts with esculin to produce a characteristic darkening, indicating positive growth.
Agar (15.0g): Solidifying agent.
pH: 7.1 ± 0.2 at 25°C
Usage Instructions:
Dissolve 16.5g of EIA in 1L of distilled or deionized water. Boil for more than 1 minute until completely dissolved. Dispense and sterilize at 121°C for 15 minutes. The medium is now ready for plating and use.
Applications:
Ideal for microbiology laboratories conducting research, diagnostics, and differentiation of Enterococcus species, providing reliable and reproducible results.
