Enterotoxin Toxin-Producing Medium is a specialized culture medium formulated for the detection of enterotoxin production by Staphylococcus species.

Composition (per liter):

  • Peptone – 20.0 g

  • Pancreatic Digest of Casein – 0.2 g

  • Sodium Chloride – 5.0 g

  • Monopotassium Phosphate – 1.0 g

  • Dipotassium Phosphate – 1.0 g

  • Calcium Chloride – 0.1 g

  • Magnesium Sulfate – 0.2 g

  • Nicotinic Acid – 0.01 g

  • Final pH: 7.3 ± 0.1 (at 25°C)


Preparation & Instructions:

  1. Suspend 27.5 g of the medium in 1 liter of distilled or deionized water.

  2. Heat with agitation until completely dissolved.

  3. Dispense into suitable containers.

  4. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 30 minutes.

  5. Cool before use.
