Enterococcus faecium Selective Medium is a nutrient-rich culture medium designed for the selective isolation and cultivation of Enterococcus faecium. Supplied in 250g bottles, it is stable at room temperature and has a shelf life of 3 years, making it convenient for routine microbiology laboratory applications.
Key Ingredients (per liter):
Tryptone (20.0g): Provides peptides and amino acids essential for bacterial growth.
Yeast Extract (5.0g): Supplies vitamins and additional nutrients for optimal proliferation.
Glucose (2.0g): Serves as a carbon source for bacterial metabolism.
Disodium Phosphate (4.0g) and Dipotassium Phosphate (4.0g): Act as buffering agents to maintain stable pH.
Inhibitory Agent (0.4g): Suppresses non-target organisms for selective growth.
Bromocresol Purple (0.015g) and TTC (0.1g): Indicators to monitor bacterial activity and differentiation.
Agar (20.0g): Solidifying agent.
pH: 7.4 ± 0.2 at 25°C
Usage Instructions:
Dissolve 55.5g of medium in 1L of distilled or deionized water (adjust proportionally as needed). Boil for 5 minutes until fully dissolved, cool to approximately 50°C, and pour into sterile plates. Do not autoclave, as high-pressure sterilization is not recommended for this medium.
