Product Application:
E. coli O157 Chromogenic Medium is designed for the rapid isolation and detection of Escherichia coli O157. It enables clear differentiation based on colony color and morphology, making it suitable for microbiological laboratories and clinical research.
Medium Formula (per liter):
Mixed peptone – 8.0 g
Nutrients – 5.0 g
Chromogenic substances – 1.2 g
Supplement – 0.5 mg
Agar – 15.0 g
pH 7.0 ± 0.2 (25℃)
Instructions for Use:
Weigh 2.92 g of the medium and dissolve in 100 ml of distilled or deionized water.
Heat to boiling for 1 minute until fully dissolved.
Cool to 50℃, add one vial of supplement (dissolved in 1 ml sterile water), mix thoroughly.
Pour into plates and allow to solidify.
Colony Characteristics (after incubation):
E. coli O157: Purplish-red, flat, transparent colonies, approx. 2 mm in diameter.
Coliform bacteria: Green to blue-green colonies.
