Standardized Slant Medium for Citrate Assimilation Assays
This Christensen-formulated citrate agar detects bacterial utilization of citrate as sole carbon source through distinctive color transition. Prussian blue indicator provides visual alkaline reaction confirmation.

Key Diagnostic Features:

  • Positive result: Deep blue color development

  • Negative result: Original green coloration

  • Gas production: Visible fissures in slant

Technical Specifications:
▶ Preparation Protocol:

  1. Prepare per manufacturer’s instructions

  2. Solidify as slants with 1.5-2cm butt

  3. Sterilize at 115°C for 20min
    ▶ Incubation: 18-24h at 35±2°C
