Product Overview
This Cetrimide Agar Plate is a ready-to-use, selective medium designed for the isolation and cultivation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa from clinical, environmental, and industrial samples. The selective agent, cetrimide (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide), is a quaternary ammonium compound that inhibits the growth of most non-Pseudomonas organisms while permitting P. aeruginosa to grow.
The medium also contains peptone and beef extract to supply the nutrients required for growth of Pseudomonas species. Cetrimide Agar is widely used in pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and clinical microbiology for the detection and enumeration of P. aeruginosa, and it is referenced in several pharmacopoeial and national standards.
