Beef Soup Agar Medium with Lactose and Calcium Carbonate is a selective agar designed for enumeration of lactic acid bacteria (LAB). The addition of lactose and calcium carbonate supports differentiation and clear colony visualization, with bromcresol purple as a pH indicator. Ideal for microbiological testing of dairy and fermented foods.

Peptone – 10.0 g
Beef Extract – 3.0 g
Sodium Chloride – 5.0 g
Lactose – 20.0 g
Calcium Carbonate – 10.0 g
Bromcresol Purple – 0.06 g
Agar – 20.0 g
pH: 6.0 ± 0.2 (25℃)
Preparation Instructions:
Dissolve 68 g of powder in 1 L of distilled or deionized water.
Heat to boiling until fully dissolved.
Adjust pH before or after sterilization using HCl or NaOH, as pH can fluctuate due to calcium carbonate.
Dispense and sterilize at 115℃ for 20 minutes.
Cool to 60℃, mix well, and pour plates.
