Application

Alexandrov Medium is formulated for the cultivation of potassium-solubilizing bacteria (silicate bacteria). With agar as a solidifying agent, this medium is ideal for the isolation and solid culture of silicate bacteria, providing essential nutrients and soil minerals to promote microbial growth and potassium solubilization.

Composition (per liter)

• Sucrose – 5.0 g

• Magnesium sulfate – 0.5 g

• Disodium hydrogen phosphate – 2.0 g

• Ferric chloride – 0.005 g

• Calcium carbonate – 0.1 g

• Soil minerals – 1.0 g

• Agar – 18.0 g

pH: 7.2 ± 0.2 (25℃)

Instructions for Use

1. Weigh 26.6 g of the medium and suspend in 1 L of distilled or deionized water.

2. Heat to boiling for more than 1 minute until the agar is completely dissolved.

3. Stir well and dispense into containers.

4. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121℃ for 15 minutes.

5. After sterilization, shake gently to mix, allow to cool, and pour into plates.
