Product Overview
Acetamide Broth is a microbiological culture medium formulated for the growth testing and identification of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
This dehydrated culture medium is widely used in microbiology laboratories for evaluating the ability of microorganisms to grow using acetamide as a carbon source. It is commonly applied in environmental microbiology, water testing, and laboratory research related to Pseudomonas aeruginosa detection.
The medium is supplied in powder form and requires dissolution in purified water followed by sterilization before use in microbiological testing procedures.

Medium Composition (per liter)
Monopotassium Phosphate — 0.73 g
Dipotassium Phosphate — 1.39 g
Sodium Chloride — 5.0 g
Magnesium Sulfate (7H₂O) — 0.5 g
Acetamide — 10.0 g
Phenol Red — 0.012 g
Final pH: 7.0 ± 0.2 (25°C)
Principle
Microorganisms possessing acetamidase are able to utilize acetamide as a carbon source. During the metabolism of acetamide, alkaline products may be produced, resulting in changes in the medium indicator.
Preparation Instructions
- Suspend 17.4 g of the medium in 1000 ml distilled or deionized water.
- Heat the mixture until the medium is completely dissolved.
- Dispense the medium into test tubes.
- Sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes.
- Allow the medium to cool before use.
Prepared broth medium can then be used for microbiological growth testing procedures.
