Pseudomonas CFC Selective Agar Base – Culture Medium for Pseudomonas Isolation (250g)
Pseudomonas CFC Selective Agar Base is designed for the selective isolation and enumeration of Pseudomonas species, particularly from environmental, food, and water samples.
The formulation provides a nutrient-rich environment through peptone, while potassium sulfate and magnesium chloride enhance pigment production and growth. Selectivity is achieved after supplementation with CFC supplement (Cetrimide, Fucidin, Cephaloridine) and glycerol, effectively inhibiting competing flora.
This medium is widely applied in microbiological quality control, food safety analysis, and environmental monitoring for the detection of Pseudomonas spp..
Complete Formula (per liter):
Peptone: 20.0 g
Potassium Sulfate (K₂SO₄): 10.0 g
Magnesium Chloride (MgCl₂): 1.4 g
Agar: 13.6 g
Final pH: 7.2 ± 0.2 (25°C)
Preparation & Instructions:
Suspend 45.0 g of medium in 1 L distilled or deionized water.
Heat to dissolve completely and dispense into suitable containers.
Add 1 mL glycerol per 100 mL of medium.
Sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes. Shake gently after sterilization to prevent agar settling.
Cool to 50–55°C, then aseptically add 1 vial of Pseudomonas CFC supplement per 100 mL.
Mix thoroughly, pour plates, and allow to solidify.
