Product Application:
Mould and Yeast Chromogenic Medium is designed for the rapid detection and differentiation of common yeasts and moulds. It enables reliable colony identification based on chromogenic reactions, widely applied in microbiological laboratories and quality control testing.

Medium Formula (per liter):

  • Peptone – 30.0 g

  • Chromogenic substances – 1.8 g

  • Chloramphenicol – 0.1 g

  • Agar – 15.0 g

  • pH 6.0 ± 0.2 (25℃)

Instructions for Use:

  1. Weigh 4.75 g of the medium and dissolve in 100 ml of distilled or deionized water.

  2. Heat to boiling until fully dissolved.

  3. Cool to approximately 50℃, pour into plates, and allow to solidify.

Colony Characteristics (after incubation at 25–28℃ for 48 hours):

  • Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Candida glabrata, Candida krusei, Saccharomyces cerevisiae: Blue-green colonies

  • Moulds: Cottony blue-green colonies

  • Escherichia coli: Growth inhibited
