Application

Vibrio Chromogenic Medium is designed for the selective isolation and preliminary identification of Vibrio species, particularly Vibrio parahaemolyticus, in food, water, and environmental samples. Chromogenic substrates enable easy visual differentiation while inhibiting unwanted bacteria.

Composition (per liter)

• Nutrients – 75.0 g

• Chromogenic indicator – 4.5 g

• Agar – 15.0 g

pH: 8.5 ± 0.2 (25℃)

Instructions for Use

1. Weigh 9.45 g of the powder and dissolve in 100 ml of distilled or deionized water.

2. Stir and heat to boiling for 1 minute until fully dissolved.

3. Cool to 50℃ and pour into sterile plates.

4. Allow plates to solidify before use.

Typical Colony Characteristics (Incubation 18–24h)

• Vibrio parahaemolyticus: blue-green colonies

• Vibrio cholerae: purple-red colonies

• Vibrio alginolyticus: pale yellow or off-white colonies

• E. coli is inhibited
