Tributyrin Agar Base is specifically designed for the examination and enumeration of lipolytic bacteria. It is ideal for laboratories involved in testing microorganisms that break down fats and lipids. The base is formulated with meat peptone, casein peptone, yeast extract, and agar, and requires the addition of Tributyrin for full functionality.

Instructions for Use:

  1. Dissolve 4.0g of Tributyrin Agar Base in 200ml distilled or deionized water.

  2. Add 1 vial of Tributyrin and heat to boil for complete dissolution.

  3. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 20 minutes.

  4. After sterilization, shake gently to avoid agar settling at the bottom.

  5. The medium is now ready for use.

Storage: Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight. Shelf life: 3 years.

  • Peptone from Meat: 2.5g

  • Peptone from Casein: 2.5g

  • Yeast Extract: 3.0g

  • Agar: 12.0g

  • Tributyrin (to be added during preparation)

pH: 7.5 ± 0.2 at 25°C
