K’s Medium Base is a specialized microbiological medium designed for the detection of heat-resistant and acid-resistant bacteria in beverages. Ideal for quality control and food safety testing, this medium supports the growth of specific bacterial strains that are capable of surviving high temperatures and acidic environments, commonly found in beverages.

Instructions for Use:
To prepare, dissolve 24.5g of K’s Medium Base in 1L of distilled or deionized water. Boil until fully dissolved. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes, then gently shake to mix. After sterilization, cool to approximately 55°C, and adjust the pH by adding sterilized malic acid (about 1.5g/L) to reach a pH of 3.7. Pour into petri dishes and allow to solidify.

Storage: Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight. Shelf life: 3 years.

Ingredients per liter:

  • Peptone: 5.0g

  • Yeast Extract: 2.5g

  • Dextrose (Glucose): 1.0g

  • Tween 80: 1.0ml

  • Agar: 15.0g

  • pH adjusted to 3.7 using malic acid (after sterilization)
