DT Medium, also known as Glucose Peptone Agar (DT Medium), is a specialized microbiological medium used for the enumeration of aerobic spore-forming bacteria. This formulation without neutralizer provides reliable results for bacterial detection in laboratory and food safety applications.

Medium Composition (per liter):

  • Pancreatic Digest of Casein 10.0g

  • Dextrose 5.0g

  • Lecithin 1.0g

  • Bromocresol Purple 0.04g

  • Agar 15.0g

Preparation Instructions:

  1. Dissolve 31.0g of the medium in 1L of distilled or deionized water.

  2. If preparing DT medium with neutralizer, add one vial (7g Tween-80) per liter.

  3. Heat to boiling until completely dissolved.

  4. Dispense into containers.

  5. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes.

  6. Shake well after sterilization to prevent agar sedimentation at the bottom of the container.

This DT Medium is suitable for accurate aerobic spore counts in food microbiology, quality control, and research laboratories.
