THB Medium Base – Enrichment Medium for Streptococcus, 250g
THB Medium Base is a nutrient-rich culture medium specially formulated for the enrichment and growth of Streptococcus species. Supplied in 250g bottles, it is stable at room temperature and has a shelf life of 3 years, making it convenient for routine laboratory use.
This medium contains key ingredients to support bacterial growth:
Beef Extract (10.0g/L): Provides essential nutrients and growth factors.
Tryptone (20.0g/L): Supplies peptides and amino acids necessary for Streptococcus proliferation.
Dextrose (2.0g/L): Serves as a carbon source to support bacterial metabolism.
Sodium Bicarbonate (2.0g/L): Maintains optimal buffering capacity and pH stability.
Sodium Chloride (2.0g/L): Ensures proper osmotic balance in the medium.
Disodium Hydrogen Phosphate (0.4g/L): Provides additional buffering support.
pH: 7.2 ± 0.2 at 25°C
Usage Instructions:
Dissolve 36.4g of THB Medium Base in 1L of distilled or deionized water. Sterilize at 121°C for 15 minutes. After cooling to 47–50°C under sterile conditions, supplement with Polymyxin E solution (1 vial per 200ml) and Napthyridine solution (2 vials per 200ml) for optimal Streptococcus enrichment. Mix well and aliquot for use.
