Loeffler’s Methylene Blue Stain is a specialized laboratory reagent designed for distinguishing live and dead cells through microscopic observation, particularly effective for examining actinomycetes. Its reliable staining performance makes it a valuable tool for cellular viability studies in laboratory settings.

Key Specifications:

  • Packaging: 5ml/vial × 4 vials/box

  • Storage Condition: Room temperature or 4-8°C

  • Shelf Life: 1 year

Intended Use:

Ideal for differentiating live and dead cells via staining, suitable for microscopic observation of cell morphology, especially for actinomycetes.

How to Use:

  1. Place one drop of the stain in the center of a slide. Use a sterile inoculating loop to take a small amount of actinomycetes and mix evenly with the stain.

  1. Take a coverslip, touch one edge to the bacterial mixture, then slowly tilt and cover the liquid to avoid bubbles.

  1. After approximately 3 minutes, observe cell morphology first under low magnification, then high magnification. Differentiate live and dead cells based on color.

  1. After 30 minutes of staining, observe again to note changes in live cells.

  1. Result interpretation: Live cells appear colorless; dead cells appear blue or light blue.
